The farm is expanded once again and more fertilized roe of the Beluga variety (huso-huso) is imported. This is the largest and scarcest kind of sturgeon, and it is from where the world’s highest quality caviar in the world is obtained.

Se amplía nuevamente la granja y se importan huevas fertilizadas de la variedad Beluga (huso-huso), el esturión más grande y escaso de todos, del cual se obtiene el caviar de mayor calidad a nivel mundial.
Un nuevo producto
La nueva especie importada en 2005 comienza a dar sus frutos. La empresa comienza a producir dos variedades diferentes de caviar, sumando el verdadero Oscietra a su ya distinguido caviar Siberiano.

Perfeccionando el Oscietra
Se logra la primera reproducción con esturiones rusos nacidos en Uruguay, luego de un trabajo de selección genética, buscando que la nueva generación produzca una mayor cantidad del tan buscado Golden Oscietra.

Innovación en biología
La ANII (Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación) aprueba un proyecto que consiste en desarrollar una vacuna para reducir la mortalidad de los esturiones. Los resultados son prometedores y nuevas líneas de investigación se implementan continuamente, de modo de permanecer a la vanguardia en este campo.
Biological Innovation
ANII (Uruguayan Research and Innovation Agency) approves a project for the development of a vaccine to reduce sturgeon mortality rates. As results are promising, new research is constantly carried out to remain state of the art in that field.
Certifications and Further Capital
We become ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14000:2004 certified in recognition of the quality of our processes. The company receives the name it carries today: Black River Caviar. We create a new partnership with another investor to expand a section of our plant where to breed more sturgeons, under the same conditions as the previous investors.
